Tokyo Japanese Seafood

4637 50th St.
Lubbock, TX
(806) 799-8998

Tokyo Japanese Seafood was originally located on Slide Road, and has now relocated to a supposedly more modern and comfortable building (although I have not been to the restaurant since it moved). It is a hibachi style restaurant where customers sit around the table and watch the chef cook the meal in front of them. I remember the restaurant concentrating more on the food than the "show" (which seems to be part of the hibachi restaurant ritual). It was also less expensive than comparable Japanese style hibachi restaurants, although I only went for lunch (lunches were very reasonable).

Tokyo serves salmon, which is why I choose it over Shogun, but it is the quality of salmon you would expect to find in West Texas (farmed Atlantic salmon instead of the wild varieties). The fish was good, though, and the flavors of the sauces and side items were all excellent. I would probably suggest beef or chicken over the salmon (and judging from the name of the restaurant I assume they also have shrimp).

Overall the restaurant was very good compared to similar restaurants I have tried in Amarillo and Clovis (Tokyo had the best sauces and the best overall flavor).
