El Portal del Ciro's

9111 Montana Ave.
El Paso, TX
(915) 590-2476

There seem to be Ciro's Restaurants all over town, but each one is slightly different. I tried this easternmost branch because it was open late (until 10:30 pm on Friday night). This is a large restaurant and bar that seems to have about everything on the menu: Mexican plate, tacos, steaks, shrimp, fish, and breakfast items.

I tried the Mexican plate so I could sample several items. I had heard that the Flautas were one of the best items here, and this proved to be the case (although they did not compare to the ones at Flautas Tepalca).

Chiles Rellenos were also very good.

The Rice was especially good with peas and carrot chunks mixed in.

I tried the Chicken Taco and although the crispy shell was very good, it didn't have very good chicken meat.

There is a large beer selection, and a friendly and attentive staff (which is not all that common in El Paso). Overall it's a very good place to get typical El Paso style food.
